Philo Agora, New charges next fortnight.

Sydney’s Philosophy in the Café - Philo Agora

Every Second Tuesday at 7:30 pm, Fair Trade Coffee Company, 33 Glebe Point Road, Glebe.

This coming fortnight there will be a slight change to our charging for the talk. Instead of the usual $6 charge, we will only be charging $3 for the night to pay for the rental of the cafe. Coffee and tea will not be included, but at some $3 each, it works out much the same. Further, we have the bottom half of the cafe to ourselves from 7pm with last orders for the kitchen at 7:30.

April 13   Lindsay Mell:  Toward a Social Ethos

Given the contemporary times in which we live, perspectives of what good means have become contested. Lindsay will consider some contemporary perspectives on the concept of what is good in social terms, exploring whether a consistent broad social ethos might eventually emerge.

Such a substantial explorative journey in the social context, if possible, would affect our lives in many ways.

Lindsay Mell is a member of the Continental Philosophy Forum. He is also Coordinator of the Community and Peace Program of the United Nations Association of Australia NSW, and Immediate Past President of the Association.

Philo Agora is also looking for someone to help with our website. We need a willing member to spend aabout an hour per week updating our site to better reflect what is happening fortnightly within our group. Please contact any of the undersigned on the night or reply to this email.

Finally, the writer, Sam, has had a change of contact details to coincide with his new business. Regulars can reach him at samalexander@teletec.com.au or on his new mobile number, 0457 749 310. Please email him if you wish yo be on his personal contact list.

Regards,

Sam, Peter and Hazel.
