This Wed, Tony Muscio on Indeterminism.

Sydney’s Philosophy in the Café - Philo Agora

Welcome to Philo Agora 2014.

Second Wednesday of the month. 7 for 7:30 at Abla Pastry, 425 New Canterbury Rd, Dulwich Hill.

This Wednesday, July 9th, Tony Muscio on Free Will, Determinism, and Indeterminism.

Tony is an IT Professional with a life long interest in science and philosophy.  Interested in always learning from others, Tony also believes we can all contribute something new to the human endeavor.  An active particpant in Philoagora, Tony also belongs to other organisations, promoting sustainable practices and developing ideas and methods for the promotion of progressive change.

In Tony's last talk he presented an argument for the existence of free will. In this talk he will take this further but suggest we do not have as much free will as we think. In fact he will present an argument that this is in our best interest. He will also tackle the apparent dichotomy between determinism and indeterminism, and suggest the universe can be both simultaneously.

Philo Agora's format is a talk for 20 minutes starting at 7:30. The presenter then answers any questions of clarification from the floor. We then take a break of 5 to 10 minutes for more coffee and to mull over the talk and discuss it within small groups. The microphone is then passed around the audience for comment, opinion, and often counter argument to a maximum of 2 minutes. The presenter is then given a 5 minute right of reply. We usually finish up at 9pm. The cover charge is $8 for the talk which includes your first cup of coffee or tea. Come early from 6:30pm and join the regulars in a pastry and coffee before the presentation.

We look forward to your attendance and participation.

Kind regards,
